Life is fast. Constantly changing. Some changes you can control and some you can’t. Here are 10 to change your life for a healthier and happier you!
1.Eat less sugar
I’ve had lots of questions about this recently because I made the decision to cut back on my sugar intake to balance my energy levels. No sugary foods and no sugar in drinks. I eat 80% dark chocolate because of its low sugar percentage and I will only eat sugary foods and drinks when it is necessary to be social for example homemade cake with friends. If you want to find out more about this choice then let me know! Try it for a week and tell me what you think! I recommend it!
2. Drink water when you wake
When you wake up in the morning drink a large glass of water. This helps to wake you up which if you are like me, can be very difficult. It also feels very cleansing and refreshing to start your morning off while kick starting your body after a good nights sleep. An easy way to achieve this is by leaving a glass of water by your bed when you go to bed so when you wake up the water is already there so you can drink it straight away.
3. Take a 20min walk frequently
This works wonders! I go for a walk most days of the week for half an hour just to clear my head. It is refreshing and refocuses the mind, giving you a new perspective and a fresh start. The exercise can be part of the recommended half an hour of exercise a day which will benefit your health and energy levels massively! Also, it can be a lovely experience just to get out of the house, get some fresh air and explore your local area.
4. Wake up early
Waking up early is meant to be a more natural time to take up than 12pm due to our natural body clocks. Waking with the light will allow more daylight hours while you are awake which is always a positive point. I am personally more productive late at night but if you are more productive in the morning then this could be a great benefit for you! I recommend waking up at 8am when possible.
5. Start a budget
I’ve started this recently by simply noting my spendings. This helps to draw attention to unnecessary spending habits which you can then change as well as make sure you stay within your budget. As a result saving money will be easier and more meaningful. You’ll be more in control of your spendings and savings as a whole.
6. Try something new
Go to a different shop, try a different activity, ride a bike instead of drive, try a new food, or travel somewhere you’ve never been before. Until you’ve tried it you’ll never know. It might even be your new favourite thing! Personally, I like to mix up my coffee order, latte one day and mocha the next and take a different path to the bus stop. Variation keeps things interesting and young.
7. Get enough sleep
You know yourself better than anyone so you will know if you are getting enough sleep for your body. 8 hours is the adult recommendation so going to bed at 10pm and waking up at 6am will allow enough sleep. Waking up and going to bed at the same time each day helps to form a consistent habit and makes getting up in the morning smoother.
9. Love yourself
Go and write a list of the things you love most about yourself. Look after yourself even if it means a hot chocolate and a bubble bath! Being nice to yourself is beneficial mentally it helps maintain passion, enthusiasm and positivity.
9. Create a dream board
Find your favourite quote on Pinterest, pictures, and photos that remind you of your dreams. Anything that reminds you of what you want to achieve. Put these pictures together on some paper and hang it up somewhere you will see it every day. This will motivate you and inspire you to chase your dreams.
10. Live in the moment
Put your phone down. Take a deep breathe. Listen to those around you. Look at those around you. How do you feel? Live this moment. Live in the moment. This will slow time down a bit and keep you calm as well as allow you to get more out of the little moments in life.
